WOMEN CELL

The Women Cell at Vivekananda Mahavidyalaya, Haripal, Hooghly, empowers and orients female students to recognize their true potential and helps them to attain their own stand in a competing world. The goal of this cell is to aware – both the female and male students of the college- the overall development of women in all spheres of life and to make them realise the importance of education for women for the requirement of a true well-being of a family. This Cell of this college creates awareness among students through arrangement of seminars, talks, gender sensitization programmes, cultural programmes and interactive sessions focussing on gender-equality, women empowerment, women rights and cyber- security as well as how to maintain health hygiene and psychological health of the students.

- To provide the environment to ensure the basic right and requirement of dignity at work and study place
- To act as a counselling cell to the female students where they could feel free to share their personal problems
- To make the male students aware of the position and importance of their female counterparts amidst the society
OBJECTIVES:
- To make the students realise about the basic difference of ‘gender’ and ‘sex’.
- To prevent gender discrimination and to promote gender-equality.
- To provide a good well-being of mental as well as physical health for all students.
- To make the female students aware of their female health and hygiene.
- To undertake gender sensitization programmes inside the college campus as well as in the two adopted villages.
ACTIVITIES::
- Gender equity and gender sensitization programmes have been organised.
- Cultural programmes are held to aware the students of gender equity.
- Sanitary napkin vending machine and incinerator has been installed in Girls’ Common Room.
- Seminars related to women health and hygiene have been organised.
- International women’s Day has been celebrated.
- Community work performed by the students.
- Self- Defence programme and workshop have been organised for the female students.
- The Students have been involved in several interactive sessions through which they could overcome their gendered related barriers.
