Facilities

•The Department has two laboratories: one for Honours course and the other for general course. Available instruments include: Microscope both compound and simple, camera lucida, oculometer, stage micrometer, incubator, microtome for tissue section, colorimeter, pH meter, high speed centrifuge, tissue homogenizer, digital pan balance and refrigerators, Besides, sophisticated instruments like spectrophotometer, cold centrifuge, autoclave, PCR machine, Laminar air flows, rotary evaporator, electrophoretic apparatus, gel doc etc. are also available at central instrumentation laboratories for bioscience based department.

•The Department is also enriched with an excellent animal museum with a collection of preserved animal species from each and every phylum, animal skeletons & bones, slides for microscopic animals, tissues and cell divisions.

•The department is equipped with two desktops, one printer and internet connectivity.

•Seminar library facility is available.

•The department inspires the students to bring out annual wall magazine ‘Biborton’ on various interesting aspects of Zoology.

•Beside lecture method, power point presentations are used regularly by the faculties to make the teaching-learning process more effective. Smart class room with digital touch-screen facility is also available in our department on sharing basis.

•The Department also organizes excursions to places of zoological importance’s every year. The field reports are evaluated in the final university examinations.
