ADMISSION POLICIES
(Notice Board to be followed at the time of admission for changes, if there be any)
Admission in UG 4 Year Hons. or Hons. with Research and 3 Year Degree Programme-2025-2026 (under NEP-2020) for B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./BCA will be made through Centralized Admission Portal (CAP) and Merit list will be prepared by the portal automatically according to the candidate’s preference (Maximum 25) and subject wise information during registration. Therefore students passed in H.S. Examination 2025, 2024, 2023 and 2022 are directed to follow the Centralized Admission Portal (CAP) and College Notice Board & College website (www.vmharipal.ac.in) for the said admission.
An applicant passed H.S. (10+2) level or equivalent Board/ Council/ University/ Institution including West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education as recognized by the University of Burdwan (in 2025, 2024, 2023, and 2022) with at least 45% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in concerned subject (to be opted as Major) is eligible to apply for the particular Major subject in UG 4 Year Hons. or Hons. with Research Programme-2025-2026 (under NEP-2020) for B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./BCA. In this regard merit marks will be calculated taking marks of best four (each having full marks 100) subjects and the marks obtained in Bengali. Candidates passed in vocational course or passed from any Open University will not be eligible to apply. A candidate will not be considered if (s) he has been graduated in any other discipline.
An applicant passed H.S. (10+2) level or equivalent Board/ Council/ University/ Institution including West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education as recognized by the University of Burdwan (in 2025, 2024, 2023 and 2022) with at least pass marks in aggregate is eligible to apply for 3 Year Degree Programme-2025-2026 (under NEP-2020) for B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. In this regard merit marks will be calculated taking % of marks of best 4 (four) subject marks (having full marks 100 in each) and in Lab-based subject pass marks should be required both in theory and practical papers seperately. Candidates passed from Vocational Engineering & Technology with pass marks in Mathematics or Vocational Agriculture or Vocational Business & Commerce or Vocational Home Science in the year 2025, 2024, 2023 and 2022 is also eligible to apply. But, a candidate passed from any Open University will not be eligible to apply. A candidate will not be considered if (s) he has been graduated in any other discipline.
Admission to BCA 4 Year Hons. or Hons with Research (3-yrs. / 6-Semesters Self-Financing Course) for session 2025-2026 will be held through online Registration. Candidates passed in H.S. or Equivalent Exam (with minimum 50% Aggregate Marks) along with 50%(minimum) marks in Mathematics or Computer Application or Computer Science in the year 2025, 2024, 2023 and 2022 may apply online through college website (www.vmharipal.ac.in).
Candidates passed from Vocational Engineering & Technology with 50% (minimum) marks in Mathematics or Computer Application in the year 2025, 2024, 2023 and 2022 may also eligible to apply. Admission will be made purely on the basis of merit, while for GEN-EWS/SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B, the usual reservation system (10%/22%/6%/10%/7%) respectively including 5% PH in each case will be followed.
For Candidates passing out their H.S. Examination in the previous year, i.e. 2025, 2024, 2023 and 2022 may get admission in 3 Year Degree Programmes of Arts, Science & Commerce stream without any deduction.
In 4 Year Hons. or Hons with Research Programme for B.A., B.Sc. students may opt maximum three different Major Subjects in single registration (online) along with 3 Year Degree Programmes.
In the 3 Year Degree Programmes admission online registration will proceed along with the 4 Year Hons. or Hons with Research Programme according to notification, on the basis of aggregate marks i.e. best five.
During Registration attachment of scanned copy of original H.S. Mark Sheet and Caste Certificate (SDO) are mandatory.
MERIT LIST GENERATION
Note: In case marks are not awarded but grade points (GP) are awarded, GP is to be converted into marks on 100 point scale (for 10 point grade scale it can be done by simple multiplication of grade point by 10), If letter-grades with range of marks for the letter grades are given, then the mid-value of the range of a particular letter-grade will be considered for determination of % of marks.
Calculate % of best 4 (four) subject marks as per H.S. or equivalent level mark sheet. Environment studies will not be considered. In case of CBSE and ISC (12th standard), Consider % of best 4 (four) subject marks.
In case of CBSE and ISC (12th standard), Consider 2 or 1 languages(s) as available +3 best elective subjects and find % of aggregate marks.
Calculate % of marks in the subject chosen as Major Subject, consider marks of that subject.
TIE-BREAKING OF MERIT MARKS
The following rules are to be applied sequentially whenever the merit marks of candidates are calculated to be identical.
For UG 4 Year Hons. or Hons. with Research Programme-2025-2026 (under NEP-2020) for B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./BCA
1. Original Merit Marks added with again % of marks obtained by the candidate in the subject (for the applied Honours course) at 10+2 level will be considered to break the tie. Percentage marks (on the basis of best five subjects) obtained by the candidate at 10+2 level will be considered to break the tie.
2. Step-1 total merit score added with 1st best subject marks obtained by the candidate at 10+2 level will be considered to break the tie. Percentage marks obtained by the candidate at 10 level (Madhyamik or equivalent) will be considered to break the tie.
3. Step-2 merit marks added with 2nd best subject marks obtained by the candidate at 10+2 level will be considered to break the tie.
4. Step-3 total merit marks added with 3rd best subject marks obtained by the candidate will be considered to break the tie.
5. Step-4 total merit marks added with 4th best subject marks obtained by the candidate will be considered to break the tie.
For UG 3 Year Degree Programme-2025-2026 (under NEP-2020) for B.A./B.Sc./B.Com./BCA
1. Original Merit score added with Marks obtained by the candidate in the 1st best subject among the 4 at 10+2 level will be considered to break the tie.
2. Step-1 total merit score added with 2nd best subject marks obtained by the candidate at 10+2 level will be considered to break the tie.
3. Step-2 merit marks added with 3rd best subject marks obtained by the candidate at 10+2 level will be considered to break the tie.
4. Step-3 total merit marks added with 4th best subject marks obtained by the candidate will be considered to break the tie.
